technical-seo-skill
Rather than checking pages one by one, let your AI agent audit the whole site. technical-seo-skill works like a technical SEO specialist inside Claude Code or Codex: it crawls every URL on your domain and subdomains, checks the signals that matter, and hands you an Excel report with a prioritised task list. It is free and open source.
- Whole site
- Domain and relevant subdomains, from sitemaps and internal links.
- 29 sheets
- One Excel workbook, from the issue overview to the task list.
- Resumable
- Checkpointed crawl: a long run never starts from zero again.
- Free
- Open source on GitHub, sponsored by Webside.
What it checks.
The questions a technical SEO specialist asks in a real audit, answered for every page of the site.
Scope and site files
- Domain and subdomain discovery
- Sitemap discovery and parsing
- robots.txt and llms.txt
- Status codes and load time
Page signals
- Title and meta description quality, length and duplicates
- Canonical presence and non-self canonicals
- H1 count, duplicates and heading hierarchy
- hreflang and structured data, with a schema summary
Structure and links
- Broken internal links and the pages that cause them
- Orphaned URLs
- Crawl depth
- URL structure issues
Content
- Thin content and low text-to-HTML ratio
- Duplicate content patterns
- Large and slow pages
- N-gram and keyword analysis
Images
- Full image inventory with file size
- Images over 100 KB
- Missing or weak alt text, missing dimensions
- Legacy formats and broken internal images
Tasks
- Findings grouped into patterns, not raw dumps
- A task per issue with a remediation step
- Priorities, so you know what to fix first
An analyst, not a crawler.
- Finds the scope from the starting domain and its relevant subdomains.
- Collects evidence from both sitemaps and internal links instead of trusting one source.
- Normalises noisy URLs so parameters do not pollute the report.
- Separates SEO-relevant pages from login wrappers and other false positives.
- Checks the response of every internal link target, so a “broken link” is a real one.
- Groups pages and assets into issue patterns instead of dumping crawl data.
- Turns the findings into tasks you can hand straight to a developer or editor.
An Excel workbook, ready for work.
Not a markdown summary: an .xlsx workbook. The Issues sheet is the control panel with overview metrics and the full issue inventory; Tasks turns it into an execution plan. Then work through the structural sheets (Broken Internal, Orphaned URLs, High Depth URLs), Schema, and the image sheets.

Two ways to run it.
You need Claude Code or Codex. The skill runs on your own machine; nothing is sent to this site.
Give the link to your AI
Paste this request into Claude Code or Codex and change the domain. The agent installs the skill and runs the audit.
Install the skill at https://github.com/AndacGuven/technical-seo-skill and run a technical SEO audit for https://example.com. Give me the Excel report and the most urgent fixes first.
Install it yourself
Clone the repository into your agent’s skills folder and restart the agent. Or download v1.0.0-alpha from GitHub Releases and put SKILL.md and technical_seo_skill.py in the same folder.

Before you start.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. If you use Claude Code or Codex, paste the request above and the agent installs the skill and runs the audit. You only read the Excel report.
Is it free?
Yes. The source is open on GitHub. The licence lets you use, study and modify it; you must keep the attribution and may not rebrand it as your own product.
How big a site can it handle?
It was built for large sites: the crawl saves checkpoints, so a long run that stops can continue where it left off instead of starting again.
Where does the report go?
An .xlsx file in the reports/ folder, named after the domain. Start with the Issues sheet, then Tasks.
