Frequently asked questions
Are spaces counted as characters?
The tool shows both: characters with and without spaces. Social media limits count spaces.
How long can a LinkedIn post be?
Up to 3,000 characters, but only the first two or three lines show before “…see more”, so put the main idea first.
What is the X (Twitter) limit?
280 characters for standard accounts. X can count some characters (emoji, links) differently; treat the bar as a close guide.
How is reading time worked out?
200 words a minute; speaking time uses 130 words a minute.
Is my text saved anywhere?
No. Counting happens entirely in your browser; the text is never sent to a server and is gone when you close the page.
How the numbers are worked out
- Words: runs of letters and digits, so “e-mail” and “2026” each count as words and punctuation does not.
- Characters: what you see, so an emoji counts as one. X and some platforms count some characters differently; treat their limit bars as a close guide.
- Reading time: 200 words a minute; speaking time: 130 words a minute.
- Most used words: common short words such as “ve”, “bir”, “the” and “and” are left out.
